Confident in Taiwan’s Offshore Wind, Synera Renewable Energy Officially Submits its Formosa 4 Administrative Contract and Confirms its Participation in the Next Round of Bidding

Tapei, June 30, 2023 – Synera Renewable Energy (SRE), the leading developer of offshore wind power, officially submitted its administrative contract for Formosa 4 to the Bureau of Energy. This demonstrates SRE's commitment to Taiwan's offshore wind power development and its determination to accelerate the energy transition in the Asia-Pacific region.

SRE not only expressed its intention to actively participate in the upcoming second round of bidding for Phase 3 Offshore Wind Zonal Development but also hopes that offshore wind power policies can demonstrate continuity and stability while considering the changing domestic and international political and economic landscape. The team calls for timely adjustments to the relevant regulations to promote a robust and healthy market.

Lucas Lin, the chairperson of SRE, stated, "The submission of the F4 administrative contract is a major milestone for the project. Next, the team will focus on preparations for project financing and construction to complete the wind farm on schedule. Taiwan's offshore wind industry has experienced a decade of development. Starting this year, the global demand for offshore wind has skyrocketed and competition for funding, production capacity, and installed capacity has reached a peak. In this environment, as an international wind farm development team based in Taiwan, we will continue to promote steady progress in offshore wind power development, provide green power for domestic RE100 supply chains so that they can enter the international market, and contribute to domestic and regional energy transition while maintaining local market independence and integrity. In the next round of bidding, we hope to see more flexible wind farm development conditions so that Taiwan can maintain its pioneering position in regional offshore wind power. SRE also hopes to work with regional partners to create a sustainable, net-zero future."

After successfully delivering Formosa 1 and Formosa 2, SRE was awarded capacity for  Formosa 4 (located off the shore of Tongxiao, Miaoli) in Phase 3 Zonal Development auction at the end of 2022. The neighboring Formosa 5 project is also under development and is currently the only floating wind farm that has passed the environmental impact assessment.
