SRE honored at 2023 Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards again and announces launch of New Energy Education Campaign 3.0

Taipei, July 21, 2023 – Synera Renewable Energy (SRE), a leading offshore wind developer based in Taiwan, announced today it was honored with a prestigious prize for SDG 4 Quality Education at the 2023 Taiwan Sustainability Action Awards (TSAA) for its New Energy Education Campaign. It is the second time in a row for the company to win the prize, making itself the only renewable energy company to receive such an honor among the 185 enterprises that submitted 321 sustainability action plans for the awards.

Meanwhile, furthering its efforts in green education this year, the company also announced a new intersectoral collaboration with Pley School, an innovative educational organization, to reach more students. SRE’s signature New Energy Education Campaign aims to advance green education and has evolved from 1.0 to the current 3.0 since its launch in 2021, constantly incorporating innovative activities and expanding its reach.

For this year’s campaign 3.0, which was officially kicked off this month, SRE collaborates with Pley School to develop instructional materials on offshore wind power and launch training workshops for seed teachers across Taiwan. The workshops are designed to inspire the frontline educators to introduce clean energy, particularly offshore wind power, into their classrooms, create a space that invites students to learn through play, and sow the seeds of sustainability that will grow and mature in future generations.

Anna Su, CEO of SRE, stated, “We are pleased and proud that SRE, along with companies from various sectors in Taiwan, is actively taking actions for sustainability and enhancing the education quality. Achieving SDGs requires sustained engagement by all parties, which means more businesses and organizations have to unite for change. Only by working together can we build a beautiful, sustainable world for future generations.”

“In 2021, SRE published our original children’s book Out in Full Force! Let's Catch the Wind Monster Ininhoo as a starting point for our education campaign and donated the books to introduce clean energy to more parents and children. In the second year, we launched storytelling activities and a traveling book exhibition as two lines extending from the starting point. Building upon the past success of our campaign, this year, we further created instructional materials on offshore wind power and trained seed teachers to build a green education network across Taiwan. From a starting point to two lines and now to a network, our New Energy Education Campaign has become more and more refined through our holistic point-line-plane approach,” added Anna Su, looking back on the campaign.

Pley School is the first educational organization to earn B Corporation Certification in Taiwan and the only Taiwanese corporation to be recognized as “Best for the World” by B Lab. Since its inception, Pley School has been dedicated to promoting education for sustainable development through issue-based games.

Sharing similar values, SRE collaborates with Pley School to design the issue-based game that is meaningful for the environment and energy education and run training workshops for seed teachers. By providing real support for the educators, SRE hopes to invigorate Taiwan’s green education.
