Phase 1

Synera Renewable Energy (SRE) independently installed the first two demonstration wind turbines of Formosa 1 Offshore Wind Farm in October 2016, successfully completing the first phase of the project despite facing challenges from two typhoons and obstacles stemming from an unprepared industry, inadequate legislation, and insufficient infrastructure.

By hiring technical professionals and construction vessels from Europe as well as bringing local suppliers together, SRE managed to accomplish the “mission impossible” and cement our position as the “pioneer in offshore wind” in Taiwan.

Phase 2

Between 2018 and 2019, SRE installed an additional 20 wind turbines for the second phase in collaboration with international partners. Formosa 1 not only reached four million hours of work without major accidents but also put Taiwan’s relevant infrastructure and regulations to the test. At the end of 2019, Formosa 1 was inaugurated and became Taiwan’s first commercial-scale offshore wind farm. To protect this landmark asset, SRE has been undertaking the operation and maintenance services and holds a 7.5% stake in the wind farm.
