Taipei, July 5, 2024 – Synera Renewable Energy (SRE), the leading offshore wind developer in Asia, announced today the signing of a contract with PDE Offshore Corporation (PDE), a top provider of site investigation services for offshore wind farms in Taiwan, to reserve PDE’s marine engineering capacity for 2024 and 2025.

This contract enables the swift start of site investigation and related campaigns for the Formosa 6 Offshore Wind Project (Formosa 6) as soon as the result of the second round of auctions for Phase 3 Zonal Development of Offshore Wind is released.

Anna Su, CEO of SRE, stated, “This collaboration holds great significance for both parties. Not only does it demonstrate our determination to expand renewables and commitment to Taiwan, but it also paves the way for the domestic supplier to build engineering expertise and experience. This will further enhance local capabilities in investigation for marine engineering and better prepare us for ventures into the global market.”

Hsin-Chih Huang, President of PDE, added, “We appreciate SRE's decisiveness and commitment in signing this crucial contract at such a critical juncture. This ensures we can seize the remaining weather window of this year to expedite site investigation for offshore construction and drive toward the goal of net-zero emissions.”

Formosa 6, led by SRE, will be located approximately 35 kilometers off the coast of Xianxi Township, Changhua County, spanning an area of around 84 square kilometers. With a maximum planned capacity of 800MW, the project can install up to 57 wind turbines, each with a capacity of 14MW. Once operational and connected to the grid, the wind farm is expected to power nearly one million households.
